Meet Rosanne

I still find it quite comical that I ended up specializing in pediatric nutrition.

I can vividly remember training for my first full-time position in the neurology department at McMaster Children’s Hospital when I found out that the role included caring for infants, not just older children as I had expected. “I don’t do babies” is what I said to the dietitian. She laughed at me. “You’re in for a long year!”

Long story short, those little ones grew on me and I ended up having two of my own.

But having babies wasn’t as blissful as the Pampers commercials make it out to be. I didn’t find myself in mum and baby yoga or stroller fit. I found myself at home with a great deal of exhaustion, anxiety and depression, which I have shared about here before.

Becoming a parent is life changing; it’s the toughest job I have ever landed. It’s the only place where mind-blowing love and endless joy for a little human being exist simultaneously with utter exhaustion and frustration.

One of the places of exasperation for parents may be around eating. What is made out to be a natural and intuitive process for all children can be anything but. I think it’s a blessing in disguise that I have both an adventurous eater and “learning eater” at home. I can truly relate on both levels! My greatest joy comes from working alongside parents, to support them in all areas related to feeding their children. I love to take the evidence on a topic and distill it into easy to understand bite-sized pieces, then provide concrete, realistic and sustainable strategies to create a happier mealtime environment. The ultimate goal? To decrease the stress level in the home. Because who needs more stress?!

Most importantly, I promise to see your child for who they are, not labelled by their condition or struggles with food. I promise to celebrate the tiny successes along the way, because finding glimmers of hope IN the journey is where the true joy is found.

Rosanne is incredibly knowledgeable about pediatric nutrition and shared evidence-based information with us. We were impressed with how much was covered during our appointment time. Rosanne gave us practical recommendations for transitioning our baby to solids that will fit our lifestyle. Highly recommended!
